President Donald Trump’s second administration continues its swift recasting of the federal government, prompting pushback from Democrats and legal challenges.

The administration is expected on Friday to reduce the USAID workforce from 14,000 to only 300 employees. Trump called for the agency, which provides billions of dollars in international humanitarian assistance, to be closed down.

Meanwhile, House and Senate Republicans are at odds with how to best fund key Trump’s policy items, including tax cuts and a possible extension of the nation’s debt limit. Senate Republicans are set to meet with Trump at Mar-a-Lago later Friday.

Trump fires Kennedy Center chairman, says he will fill role

President Donald Trump announced he will immediately terminate Kennedy Center Chairman David Rubenstein, as well as other members of the Board of Trustees in Washington, D.C., according to a new social media post.

Trump added that he will make himself the chairman.

His reasoning for the firing? Trump claimed the performing arts center featured drag shows that targeted the youth and that the Board of Trustees does not share the same vision of the “Golden Age” in arts and culture.
